Spider Resources Inc. , KWG Resources Inc. And Freewest Resources Canada Inc. Report Drill Results From Big Daddy

22 Jan 2010, Posted by Bruce Hodgeman in 2010, News
  • Hole FW-09-43 encountered two zones of massive chromite mineralization; 24.0 metres averaging 35.75% Cr2O3, as well as 57.0 metres averaging 40.52% Cr2O3, separated by 11.0 metres of thin massive beds of chromite averaging 15.47% Cr2O3.
  • All holes reported herein for Big Daddy encountered chromite mineralization in excess of 35% Cr2O3 over significant widths.
  • Drilling continues, anticipate completion by month end.

TORONTO, ONTARIO – January 22, 2010 – Spider Resources Inc. (SPQ:TSX-V) (“Spider”), KWG Resources Inc. (KWG:TSX-V) (“KWG”) and Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (FWR:TSX-V)(“Freewest”) are pleased to provide analytical results for the final six holes completed in 2009 at the Big Daddy Chromite property, including one hole that tested a VMS target on the same property.

Neil Novak, President of Spider Resources Inc. states: “Results for the Big Daddy Chromite Project continue to provide the necessary database to support an initial resource estimate early in 2010. We are encouraged by the continuing significant grades and widths of the intercepts.”

Analytical Results for Recent Drilling
Analytical results have been received for the remaining 6 holes of the 22 holes completed on the Big Daddy prospect (a magmatic massive chromite deposit type) during the 2009 drilling campaign. Results for sixteen earlier holes were released on December 7th, 2009, and January 7th, 2010.

Hole FW-09-37, located on Section 13+00E encountered two zones of chromite mineralization, the first between 15.5 metres and 53.1 metres (37.6 metres), followed by a second zone downhole between 66.0 metres and 114.4 metres (48.4 metres). The latter intersection is highlighted by a 14.4.6 metre intercept between 100.0 and 114.4 metres (14.4 metres) that averages 41.07% Cr2O3, with a Cr:Fe ratio of 1.80.

Hole FW-09-38, located on Section 21+00E, undercut previously announced hole FW-09-32. This section is the most northeasterly section drilled on the Big Daddy Chromite property to date. As in hole 32, two zones of chromite mineralization were encountered in hole 38, the first between 258.0 and 271.5 metres downhole (over 13.5 metres)  containing disseminated to heavily disseminated plus massive beds of chromite averaging <25% Cr2O3, although a 3 metre section between 263.0 and 266.0 metres averages 34.1% Cr2O3, and represents a substantial increase in grade from that observed in hole 32. In the second interval from hole 38, between 364.5 and 398.0 (over 33.5 metres) more consistent chromite mineralization was encountered of which 9.8 metres (between 372.0 and 381.8 metres) averages 37.28% Cr2O3, then the last 7.5 metres (between 390.5 and 398.0 metres) averages 39.38% Cr2O3 .

Hole FW-09-41, drilled on Section 17+00E, undercut previously announced holes FW-09-39 and 40 (reported January 7, 2010), and encountered variably mineralized zones of chromite mineralization between 205.2 and 460.5 (255.3 metres). Three massive chromite intersections were cored, the best intersection being the latter 19.5 metres section between 441.0 and 460.5 metres that averages 37.28% Cr2O3.

Hole FW-09-43, drilled on Section 19+00E, undercut hole FW-09-42 (reported January 7, 2010), and contains variable chromite mineralization between 121.5 and 317.0 for a total chromite intercept of 195.5 metres. There are two main intercepts in the last 92 metres, the first 24 metres between 225.0 and 249.0 averages 35.75% Cr2O3 and the latter 57.0 metres section between 260.0 and 317.0 metres that averages 40.52% Cr2O3 with a Cr:Fe ratio of 1.91. This very wide intersection when compared to the overcut exhibited by hole 42 implies much greater tonnage potential to depth in this portion of Big Daddy.

Hole FW-09-44, situated on Section 18+00E, undercut hole FW-09-28 and 29, intersected chromite mineralization between 268.5 and 406.0 metres downhole (137.5 metres).  The most significant intersection is between 281.4 and 314.0 (32.7 metres) and averages 36.33% Cr2O3.

Hole FW-09-45, as previously, announced tested a VMS anomaly that straddles the border between the Big Daddy Option property and the 100% owned Freewest property (that hosts Black Thor and Black Label) to the north. Assays for this hole have been received and there were no significant base or precious metal values reported.

Hole FW-09-46, drilled on Section 19+00E along with FW-09-42 and 43, intersected chromite mineralization between 43.0 metres and 112.0 for a total chromite intercept of 69.0 metres. The best intersection is between 54.1 and 64.7 metres (10.6 metres) that averages 41.45% Cr2O3 with a Cr:Fe of 2.06.

The following table provides assay highlights for the six holes reported upon herein on the Big Daddy. Only those intersections that averaged greater than 35% Cr2O3 over significant widths are included in the highlight table.  The chromite zone surrounding the reported massive chromite mineralization is typically of varying tenor, and consists of heavily disseminated, intercalated thin (centimeter scale) to thick (meter scale) beds of massive chromite mineralization. The amount of this mineralization that eventually may be included in the reserves will not be determined until a feasibility study is undertaken.

True widths of the chromite mineralization have yet to be determined, as this is typically done once the geometry (attitude, dip and strike) of the entire mineralized body is determined. The systematic drill pattern was designed to delineate the Big Daddy Chromite Prospect along its entire strike length. The chromite mineralized intersections are quite variable in apparent width due to the geological nature of the intrusion.

2010 Drill Program
Field crews are currently working on completing prioritized holes in the 2010 winter drill program with the intent of having sufficient exploratory drilling completed by the end of current program to support an initial resource estimate. Nearly half of the program has been completed thus far, and it is anticipated that the winter program will wrap up by end of month.

Quality Assurance / Quality Control Protocol
Stringent QA / QC procedures are followed.  Samples are shipped to the laboratory in batches of 35 samples.  Each sample batch includes 2 standards, 1 blank, and 1 duplicate that are inserted on site, plus a duplicate coarse reject and 1 duplicate pulp that are prepared at the laboratory and inserted.  In addition, Actlabs also employs a rigorous in-house QA/QC regime which includes standards, blanks and duplicates.

Once the final assays are received from Actlabs and prior to any data being released to the public, a review of all QA/QC data is conducted by an independent qualified person to ensure that the data released are within predetermined norms.

Analytical Methodology
All samples are assayed / analysed by Activation Labs (Actlabs) at either their main laboratory in Ancaster, Ontario or at their Thunder Bay, Ontario facility.  Both laboratories are ISO accredited.  All samples are

  • Analyzed for 35 trace and major elements including Cu & Ni by 4 acid digestion with an ICP finish (Actlabs code 1F2).  Any samples for which the result(s) are over limit for either Cu or Ni are then assayed for these elements by ICP-OES.
  • Assayed for Au, Pd & Pt by fire assay with an ICP/OES finish (Actlabs code 1C-OES).
  • Assayed for 13 major element oxides, including Cr2O3 by fusion-XRF (Actlabs code 4C).

For additional information on assay methodology visit the Actlabs website at http://www.actlabsint.com.
